Samsung Email app questions

Hi. I use Samsung's Email app on my tablet (Galaxy Note 10.1 2014). My tablet is very full and I am trying to clear out some space. I have just spotted that I have items in my deleted email folder that date back around 3 years, so I want to clear these out. I had mistakenly assumed that the app would delete deleted items after a certain period of time, like Gmail does. If I go to the Deleted folder and then tap on the menu button, I get an option to "Delete all". Can I assume that this will only delete everything in that folder, and that it won't also delete everything in my Inbox for example? Or is there another method of deleting deleted items? Just need to check before I do this.

My second question concerns backing up my emails. I may need to perform a factory reset and reinstallation in order to clear out more space. Is Samsung Email automatically backed up in the cloud? Is it somehow attached to my Samsung or Google account? Or do I need to physically back up my emails onto my laptop using Smart Switch?

Thanks for your help.

Is there anyone who can give me a quick reply to my questions? I suspect the answers are quite simple, but I need to know so that I can sort out my problem. Thanks.

I don't use the Samsung email app on my tablet, so can't answer your first question with any certainty. Though if you only have a "delete all" option in the "deleted" folder and not in the others that would be suggestive.

As for the second, I would expect that it depends on the settings for your email account rather than what email app you use. If you have it set to download to your device and then delete from the server then your device has the only copy. If it's set to download to the device but keep a copy on the server then there will be another copy. Simple test: can you access the same email account from a computer (via a browser or email client) and see the same mails you can see on the tablet then resetting the tablet won't remove them. You've not said what email service you are using, so I don't think I can say any more.
