Help Samsung Exhibit II - Yahoo messenger question

I have the Samsung Exhibit II android phone. I love it! My only question is this: I use Yahoo Messenger daily. I have several of my own ringtones on the phone, but cannot set any of them as a yahoo messenger alert. When I'm in yahoo messenger, it will only bring up a listing of generic default type sounds with no option to open up my own files to select a ringtone from there to use as a notification sound. Is there a specific type of chat program I can download in apps that will allow me to use my own ringtones as the notification alerts, while chatting with my contacts on yahoo messenger?
