Hi, Ive had my Samsung Galaxy 551 for about 2 years now and Im with bell. Lately my phone has been giving me a black screen when I turn it on, sometimes when I click the home button the lock screen comes up and I can use it, but I cant let the screen go off otherwise my screen will go black again and I cant use it for a really long time. I have dropped it more than a few times, and I dropped it in the sink while washing dishes, but I put it in some rice and cleaned it. That was more than 4 months ago. Im not sure what to do, should I get another phone or is it worth upgrading? Can this be fixed?

Based on the age of the phone and the number of things you've done to it over that time, it could be any number of things that is wrong with it.

The rice trick works well for wet phones, but it isn't a 100% guarantee. Dropping it can definitely cause the screen to stop working.

It's probably easier at this point to consider upgrading it to a newer device, as the issues you are having are almost certainly hardware related, not software.

I was thinking the same thing. It would be better to just get a new phone. Thank you for your quick reply!
