I can't seem to receive any text messages from any unsaved numbers. I've recently asked my brother to root my Samsung Galaxy Ace. currently it's running on gingerbread. I'm not sure what ROM it's using.
Here's the info that may be needed:
1. I can receive messages coming from my contacts.
2. I can receive calls from all numbers.
3. I can't receive texts from numbers not saved in my contacts.
4. I can call any number.
5. I can see an SMS coming from a friend once his/her number is saved (though their messages prior saving the contact are not received)

Troubleshooting done:
Power cycled phone, reset Easy battery saver (there's a warning there that says using this app may cause some network problems). I've also notied Edge constantly turned on even though my packet data is turned off.

Angry Birds
Angry Birds Rio
Fruit Ninja
Google Sky Map
Go Launcher EX
wallpapers from Go and from the Android market.
