Samsung Galaxy Ace S5830I -- Upgrading

Recently bought a Galaxy Ace S5830I. Looks different from Galaxy Ace S5830.

It comes with Android version 2.3.6. Still upgradable to another higher version or ?

Connect to Kies and see if any upgrade is available.
Or, check for upgrade through your phone settings.

Firmware is now available, but Kies is a waste app. good for sync but i have not had a good experience using it.
every time i proceed on a suggested firmware, during load its prompts the phone can not be identified, prompts for a reconnect.

i have not been able to go beyond this so far.

Firmware updates are region specific, if your region is different from the OP, he might not have that upgrade yet.

Kies has been a major dissapointment from samsung, really unreliable software.
People have bricked their devices using that, its a really crappy software.
I use Odin to upgrade usually, feels more safer to me.

hmmm...cool will check an update and will attempt this soon. thanks for the direction....

looking forward to picking a cheaper android to attempt my programming skills..... looking forward to the new G5..... android 4... not sure if the device will justify the os
