Samsung Galaxy Centura and Earbuds

I just got my Centura, and when I plugged in my 3.5mm earbuds to the jack, the sound still came and is coming out of the main speaker. What do I do? I'm sure the patrons on the plane won't want to hear my indie rock music. :)
