Samsung galaxy problem

Hey guys, I have a Samsung Galaxy S Captivate. Okay so my problem is that every time I try to put my phone in sleep mode after a text or Im done with a game or anything else it doesn't go into sleep mode it stays on. Or it will give me my phone options ( Silent mode, date network mode, flight mode, power off.) I also tried shutting is down and taking out the battery and phone restore 4 times. I just want to know how to fix this can you guys help? Thanks!

Samsung Captivate - Android Forums is the Captivate sub-forum here at AF, along with the Support area (Captivate - Support and Troubleshooting - Android Forums), perhaps another user in there can help identify the issue causing the sleep mode problem.

Meanwhile, I'd first have a look at all 3rd party apps installed, with an eye toward a conflict with the stock apps. If you've had issues before installing anything else, this won't be much help. But if you saw the problem after downloading something, the reset would likely save the apps and the problem along with it (due to the conflict).

I'd rid the device of everything but stock apps and try again.
