Samsung Galaxy S ii work with WiMax?

So here's the deal: I switched over to Boost from Virgin mobile earlier this year. I was sick of Virgin's phone lineup. I got the Marquee, which is horrible, one of my least favorite phones ever. It's slow, freezes, restarts, for starters. The 3G is also terribly slow, worse than when I was on Virgin, for some reason. I don't know if it's the phone, or the company, even though they are both Sprint.

Anyway, I was going to stick with the Marquee for a while, since I got it fairly recently, but I hate it. So I was thinking of switching back over to Virgin for the Evo V (3D). The Boost Evo Design doesn't appeal to me or appear to be anything special.

Thing is, I don't want to switch over to Virgin again only to have Boost come out with a better phone 2 months later again. I don't care for iPhones. Are there rumors of anything better, anytime soon? I heard something about the galaxy s ii, but this seems like pure rumor to me.

The Evo V seems good to me, but I was thinking that for that price, wouldn't it be better to buy the galaxy s ii and flash it to Boost instead? My question is, would the galaxy work on boost WiMax, to get the 4g speeds?

If tl;dr, a summary of what I'm asking is:

- Will the galaxy s ii flashed to Boost work on WiMax?
- Is the galaxy s ii a better choice over switching to Virgin for the Evo V? (As far as better specs and/or a better quality phone.)
- Anyone hear of a rumor of the galaxy s ii (or any other 4g phone) coming to prepaid, in which case it would make more sense to wait?

From what I've heard, only the approved Android 4G capable phones will get 4G. Some say they can get their Epic 4G Touch's on 4G but I haven't tried on mine as I don't have 4G in my area.

I love my Galaxy S II. The only thing I hate about the phone itself is the antenna. For some reason, this sucker gets little to no service in a lot of buildings that my Incognito gets full bars in.

That being said, the phone is amazing and having unlimited everything for cheap rocks. However, again, I don't know about 4G.

The only thing I've heard is that at some point, apparently the iPhone is supposed to be coming to Boost Mobile. As of right now, the Evo Design 4G is your best choice for a 4G prepaid phone on Boost Mobile. You have to use the $55 a month plan but it shrinks to $40 so it's not too bad especially if you're burning through the data.

Ah that is really too bad. I really want the S II, but would like to take advantage of the 4G speeds, since my Boost 3g is absolutely horrible. Someone told me that 4gflash might be working by August, but no idea if that's true or not.

I wonder if your antenna issue could be a battery drainer problem. My Marquee's battery usage stat is always dominated by cell standby...mine currently says 96% time without a signal.

Since I don't want an iPhone, and don't like Boost's current offerings that much, I suppose my options are to switch to Virgin for the Evo V, wait to see if the S 2 4g flash works, or wait a while to see which new phones come out.

According to my battery states, my Android OS uses majority of my battery but I'm still running stock as I keep getting scared of bricking my phone trying to flash to CM9.

Unfortunately, it's Virgin or you can get the Boost HTC phone. If I'm not mistaken, you could maybe flash your GS II using the HTC Boost phone but that's something that's up to you.
 
Im unsure about 4G with a flashed phone. I have a Nexus S 4G on boost. Im fine with my 3g speeds now though, but 4g would be paradise. Most likely you will need a 4g donor as the HTC EVO Design 4G
 
My EVO 4G is flashed to Boost but 4G does not work. It turns on but Sprint has some type of block on it when I try to access the internet or the market
 
I spoke to a guy who flashes phones, and he said that it would not work with 4G. I still would love a galaxy phone, but for now I have decided it will be easier to switch to Virgin and get the Evo V. Oh well.
 
To get 4g working you would need to use the Design as the donor phone, $300 plus the cost of the Evo to even begin having a good chance of 4g working.
