Samsung Galaxy S Lightray

S3 will probably be hitting Metro Pcs late this year or early next year.
That is what i heard from a good source.

MAN was buying my Esteem so worth it! $250 after rebates when it came out last Oct. I'm surprised there's no rebates on the lightray usually new phones have rebates. I don't like the idea of the antenna being apparent on the phone for Dyle TV. I mean look at what happened to metroSTUDIO? lol The SIII is still the next big thing for Metro since last Oct and it only makes sense that this will be a REAL upgrade to the Esteem considering it's not even a year old.

Metro prolly thought folks would ante up the bucks for the free tv and first hotspot.

So guess what?

Count on plenty of time in between releases--otherwise some of the announced upcoming models would not sell--all the slow motion way up to the S3.

the lightray is an excellent phone for first time smartphone buyers but its not a worthy upgrade.

Well that would really depend on how they price those products. If some of the phones are in that $99-149 range Metro keeps on talking about then they'll sell. If they are priced higher and don't quite offer great specs then probably not. I mean its tough for someone to pick this over the Esteem when they're having to pay $70 more. And if its someone that well informed and can afford to get the S3 then there's even less reason to get this.

I wouldnt have paid $400 for the indulge lol, hell I wouldnt pay jack for a Indulge lol

I just left ATT when I bought it and I bought it the day it came out so I didn't about any its shortcomings. I used it for 8 months until the Esteem came out and I saved $328 compared to what i would have paid ATT during that time. After I sold it I was able to buy the Esteem for just $45 more than what I got for the Indulge (after rebate). So to me it wasn't a bad deal. In total I gave Metro $445 for 2 phones and saved about $700 off what I would have paid ATT in the 18 months I had the service plus I own my Esteem and can sell it and leave whenever I want.

No real Straight Talk people on this forum. At least not the BYOP Straight Talk. I'm not going to mix with "regular" Straight Talk people who are trying to figure out which carrier their last-year model Android runs on. The BYOP Straight Talk is flying under the radar.

But technically until we cancel my wife's Metro account I'm still a Metro customer. :p I'm paid up through August 11. ;)

No I was just laughing at the $470 (or is it $459) price of this laughable phone Metro is trying to foist on people. Single core, running Gingerbread...

I paid $379 for my LG Esteem back last October (single core with Gingerbread) and at that time it was worth it. Even came with a $100 rebate to make it $279.

But this is no longer 2011. We are more than halfway through 2012. And when dual core Galaxy Nexus with 4.1.1 Jelly Bean can be had for $350 over at Google Play, Metro better step up their game. The Nexus HSPA+ downloads speeds are faster than Metro's LTE and can be had on at least one pre-paid carrier for cheaper monthly price than Metro and with true nationwide coverage.

Dyle is kicking money to Metro to carry this phone and it's still $459? I really don't understand the price on this phone.

I also don't understand why Metro is delaying the S III. If THAT phone were $459 or even $499 it would be worth it. The only reason they are delaying it is to introduce all these other crappy phones first.

Right now on eBay you can buy a new Galaxy S III with free shipping for $525, take it to Straight Talk for $45 per month with 6+ mbps HSPA+ speed with true nationwide coverage. THAT is Metro's competition and they don't seem to realize it.

People don't have to wait any more. They can get what they want RIGHT NOW (S III) , at speeds faster than Metro and price even a couple of dollars cheaper than Metro and THE BEST phone in the world.

I have a Galaxy Nexus which is the 2nd best phone, but it's only $350 and still a ton better than this Lighttray crap for $459.

you get 1mbps more than i get but your data is throttled, you cant use too much in one day, and you cant stream videos which makes data on straight talk useless. if thats metro's competition then they have nothing to worry about.

better to pay $5 more on metro for 2.5GB high speed data and not have to worry about using too much in one day or getting your account terminated for watching a youtube video.

the S3 is on its way and i'll enjoy using it on a network that is pretty fast as it is(for me at least) and will be more than twice as fast by year's end with absolutely no throttling for $60.

as always, im glad you found something that works for you.

i will agree with everyone about the lightray. its priced WAY too high for what it is.

metro is gonna have to slap on some rebates to at least make it cheaper than the esteem if they want more people to buy it.

The gs3 is projected to sell for as much as $529. For less than $100 more you can get a phone that's more than 100x better or you can get a phone that's 4x better for 3x less with the motion.

Lightray = dumbphone
