Samsung galaxy s micro usb to hdmi?

I read that I can play HD quality video on my HDTV using a micro USB to HDMI cable. First off, is this true? Second, when I search for a micro USB to HDMI cable the only options I find are for the Galaxy S 2, will a Galaxy S 2 cable work for my Galaxy S? Sorry, I'm kind of a noob with smart phones. Thanks

Look at your phone's specs for the MHL feature of the microUSB jack.

If the phone has MHL ability then you can use the S2's MHL cable :)

I'm moving this to the Samsung Galaxy S fourm, I think they'll be able to tell you right away if there is anything else you need besides a cable such as specific software.

Thanks,

Yeah I have been aware of the head phone jack, but the picture quality is poor. When I googled about the picture quality that's when I found that I could use a microUSB to hdmi adapter. Even saw some ads for it that were before the phone came out.

As far as I'm aware the Galaxy S does not support HDMI output via the micro USB. The video output would need to be hardwired inside the phone to send a video signal to the USB port. The Galaxy S doesn't have this feature.

The Galaxy S II can do this because it's USB port supports On the Go technology but the original Galaxy S doesn't.

The link Harry posted is from 2010 and when you click on the link from that site to check the cables availability, the cable doesn't exist.

Ray.
