Samsung Galaxy S3 Tear Down Repair Guide:
- To begin remove the back battery cover and remove the battery, memory card, and sim card.
- Then using a Small Phillips Screwdriver unscrew the ten (10) screws (shown below in Figure 1).

- Once all of the screws have been removed you can use your safe open pry tool to release the clips holding the back cover in place. Be aware that the upper section, near the rear camera, is separate from the rest of the device's housing. Use the pry tool and shim around the sides and edges to remove the lower back housing from the rest of the device.
- Next, there is one pop connector that will need to be released prior to removing the upper back housing (camera cover). Then use your pry tool to remove all the back housing which will completely expose the motherboard.
- After the back plate has been taken off, you have access to the motherboard. As shown in figure 2, you will now release a few cables. Unscrew the one (1) Small Phillips screw found near the sim card tray (circled in red below).
- Now you can carefully lift out the motherboard which has the rear camera still attached. Make sure none of the screws or flex cables are still attached that hold the motherboard in place.

- Following the removal of the motherboard we can now take out the volume flex cable and ear speaker (shown in green in figure 2). You will find that adhesive holds in place the speaker and the volume button flex cable.
- Next, you will remove the front camera and proximity sensor, the antenna cable (secured to the frame with a small flex cable), and one (1) Small Phillips screw. You will also release the vibrate motor which is located at the bottom of the device.
- With a blow dryer (on medium heat) or a heat gun (on low heat), we can now warm up some of the adhesive that holds the screen assembly to the device's frame. Make sure to heat both the front and the back using fast movements on the outside edges for around 35-50 seconds.
- Now that the adhesive has been softened, use your pry tool and start taking the screen assembly away from the frame. Take note that no connections or cables should be holding the screen assembly to the frame at this point. For a most effective removal, be sure to pry at both the top and bottom of the front of the screen. After the screen has been separated enough, you can now pry beneath the LCD screen in order to remove the complete screen assembly.
- Lastly, the screen assembly is now ready to be fully removed and replaced.
