samsung galaxy s3

hello every one
just bout a galaxy s3 sent up gmail on it and when some one sends me a email i get a notification sound and a icon ...but i have set up a virgin media acount using the email app which came with it, but when i recieve i email to my virgin acount the is no sound or notification icon but when i open the email app to refresh i get the mail with no sound or icon . all the boxes are tick in the virgin email account for sound vibrate and icon can any one help ??
