Samsung galaxy s4 charged all night won't turn on

My Samsung galaxy s4 has been plugged in charging all night and now it won't turn on. There is a solid red light in left hand corner that will not turn off even after unplugged. I recently went to Canada and have a ton of pictures that I do not want to lose. Please help!

Have you tried removing the battery to clear out any corruption?
Remove the battery and leave it out for a good 30 seconds, replace the battery and the red light should hopefully have gone.
Now try and power back up.
