Help Samsung galaxy s4

I have a Samsung galaxy s4 which the sensor is not working now. I was typing a email when the phone went off and the screen never came on. The screen is blank now. Power is ok when switched on and you can hear the beap sound but the screen remains Black. So can you please help with some ideas which I can bring my phone back to normal....

I assume you've pulled the battery and then tried to reboot the phone? When you do that, do you see any screen activity? Even a little flicker? If not, it could very well be that the screen has failed. If that's the case, there's not much more to do but replace the screen and hope for the best. The good news is that the part is relatively cheap. I've seen it listed for as low as $40.

If you do want to replace the screen, make sure your model number matches the part you order.

-- Try pulling the battery, leaving it out for several minutes before putting in back in place, and then see if your S4 will start up again normally. You might also want to temporarily remove any SIM or microSD card. This probably isn't a factor to the problem you've presented but more of an issue where you're eliminating the possibility with one or other failing and presenting an issue with normal startup.

-- Since you can hear the boot up process but not see anything on the display, there's a chance that perhaps the little ribbon cable between the motherboard and the display just became disconnected. A S4 is pretty dated so that wouldn't be too surprising to happen after so many years. (... not likely but not a rare thing.) This jpg attachment shows the actual connector, you might want to just try re-seating it to see if that makes any difference:

This iFixit guide shows you the steps you need to do to get to the connector (ignore the actual tear-down, just use the guide to open up your phone enough to get access to that connector -- see step 13):
