Help Samsung Galaxy s5 deleting contacts

[Android Question]

I added and saved several contacts with profile images to my favorites but when I turned the phone off and back on again, the contacts I added were missing/ deleted or erased by Samsung Galaxy s5 and I do not know why it is not saving some of them. Please answer this question if anyone has any ideas as to why my phone would be doing this. Thank you,

Are you saving them as phone contacts or are they Google contacts?
