Hello and welcome to Android Forums octavian47 :)

I am afraid that the Samsung Galaxy S5 is only water resistant... against rain, accidental water spills and is not waterproof and designed for use in underwater photography.

For such prolonged exposure to water you should get it looked at professionally as merely placing it in rice, disassembled, will not be enough.

The S5 is IP67 certified, which means it should stand a complete immersion up to one meter deep for half an hour.
However, if the back cover isn't seated correctly, or if it's damaged, or if you have a non-OEM back cover (like those provided with 3rd party high capacity batteries), or if the USB port cover is missing, or not closed correctly, then water contact can and will cause damage.

IMO, no cellphone is "water proof", and I treat them all that way.

Splash Resistant is the word for me. Mine has been splashed on several times, but never has it been dunked in water.

Yesterday, I dropped my S5 off the dock into about 12 feet of water on Lake Erie. I grabbed a dive mask to see if I could find it but the bottom was black muck that I could plunge my arm elbow deep with zero resistance. I gave up after a few dives and the water became too stirred up. I went home and came back about an hour later with renewed determination. After about 6 more unsuccessful dives, I asked a guy at the dock next to me to call my phone in the hope that it would light up in the darkness. SUCCESS!!! Words cannot express my surprise when I spotted a glow through the darkness. I brought it to the surface and it worked perfectly. AMAZING!!! I'll own Samsungs till I die.
