Help Samsung galaxy S5 won't connect to computer? help

I got a new S5 Saturday night and I have not been able to get it to connect to the computer. My computer is an older one with Windows XP but I had no problem getting my old Motorola to connect so IDK if that's the problem. I have downloaded Kies3 and smart switch and my phone won't connect to either. I have tried reinstalling the driver, but that doesn't help. When I have the connection type set to MTP, my phone won't even come up on the computer even tho on the phone it says it's connected. When I have it connected as a camera, it comes up but then it says there is a driver code error 1, configured incorrectly. I have tried fixing this by updating the driver, but the driver won't update. I have tried restarting both the phone and computer multiple times and using different cords, but nothing is helping. So I'm stuck. How do I fix this? All my music is on the computer so I need it to connect. Thanks for your help!
