Help Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 can not move files

Hi!
i have a new Samsung Tab 4 (SMT530 ) purchased online. I am trying to move files from a USB (using an adaptor) or SD card to my tablet's internal storage but My Files does not give me this option.

I tried connecting my USB to my friend's Samsung tab 3 and she could copy them fine. On her My Files she can see the files and select and copy them anywhere she wants. However on my device I only have the option to move them to another location on my USB device, but not to my android.

We have checked both our versions of 'My Files' and they are the same, so I am really not sure what the issue could be!

please help!

Hi

I think it may be because of the version of android you have on your Tab4. Try creating a new empty folder on your Tab 4 using MyFiles and then afterwards copy the data to that folder using MyFiles. I think that the latest version (4.4) of android only lets apps write to folders which they have created.

EDIT have a read of this for background http://www.instructables.com/id/How-to-bypass-Android-44-KitKat-external-SD-write-/

HI Roger,
Thanks for your reply. I have android version 4.4.2 which is the same one that my friend has...
I just tried to create a folder like you suggested and I am not able to do it, however on my friend's tablet she can do it no problems...

Thanks for the link, I will see if that helps.

Roger, Thanks a million! Your solution worked. I still think it is pretty stupid that this option is not there with this version of android but at least we now have a solution.

Thanks!
