Samsung Galaxy Tab E 9.6 issues...

My sister gave me her Samsung Galaxy Tab E 9.6 but it’s secured with a pin. She hasn’t used the tablet in so long that she doesn’t remember the pin at all! I have tried to reset it, but that’s not working. The problem is this... when I try to turn it off, it requires the pin that she doesn’t remember. Now what?? Please help. Thanks in advance.

My issue is trying to turn the tablet off in order to be able to get to the recovery mode. I can’t turn the device off without knowing the pin. Any ideas?

Try holding down the Power button for several seconds. If that doesn't work out, try holding both the Power and Volume Down buttons.

Ok, I just did both of those. Just the power button still doesn’t turn it off. Holding the power button and the volume down restarts the device, but it doesn’t shut it off.

Well at least now you can restart it. Try doing the same restart process but with the charger plugged in. If boots back up in a 'charging' state you might be able to shutdown or restart from there, being quick about holding down the Power, Home, and Volume Up buttons to get into Recovery Mode.

That worked. Thank you so much.
Good to hear. You might also want to boot up into Recovery Mode again and use the wipe cache partition option, if anything just to give you to a fresh start as you set things up on your 'new' Tab E. Good luck (and don't forget to buy sis a pizza).
