Samsung Galaxy Tab S3

As many know, the Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 is slated to release in late Febuary.
I had planned to buy an S2 9.7" for a gift (mid to late Jan birthday).
The S2 prices are down to $399 with the next gen coming out.
Based on what we know (esp. better chipset), is the S3 worth the wait or is the S2 a bargain?

S2 prices should be better than what you quoted. I bet if you did a blind (didn't know which one) comparison you would not know the difference. Really!

The S2 prices will probably drop more after the S3 comes out. The only problem may be inventory. But if you are willing to buy online, somebody will be still selling it somewhere.
