I'm considering buying this device but one important feature for me is stand alone music playing. My main goal for the watch would be to listen to my music at the gym without the need to carry my phone. My question as such is does the watch support Google play music? The reason I ask about this app specially is because; all of my music is there. I don't really want to download music locally I just want to stream everything from the watch and leave my phone in the car or locker.

I am not sure if it works with Google. I have a trial going with Spotify because my understanding is that it is the only one that supports streaming. I didn't get the streaming to work, but did download several Playlists to the S3 and that works great in the gym.

Thank you, I was afraid of that. This seems like such a basic feature, one that ipods did so well and now they are almost extinct. Hopefully Samsung and Android get this together.

I support products and services that support me, so I switched from Apple Music to Spotify. I was in the same boat as you "my music is there", but it was simple enough to switch. Since my first post, I've used Spotify on the Gear S3 to stream over LTE and it works fine; as well as downloading music to the watch if you prefer that option. I bring only my watch to the gym now.
