When plugging in headset there are still sounds coming from the speaker on the phone rather than just coming from the headset..is there any setting right now to turn it off and just send the sound of notification to the headset?

I have to agree with chanchan05 that you're probably just not plugging it in all the way. However, if you'd like to give us some info about your specific phone and the headset, we can move this to that phone's forum where it'll get better exposure.
