I received a software update on the 14th of February and since then the Samsung keyboard keeps notifying me it has stopped (I am not using it at the time).
This a Samsung T820 with Android 9.1 and security patch October 19.
I have tried clearing the cache and the data, I have tried forcing a stop and clearing cache and data, I have tried doing all of that and then restarting, I have tried restarting multiple times and I have tried clearing the data and the cache of the keyboard, clearing the data of the user dictionary and then restarting. None of these ideas worked and the notification keeps popping up like a demented jack in the box. I also think that the tablet is less stable since this latest update.
I have a keyboard cover which still works and the fault occurs whether or not I have the physical keyboard attached. Any help would be really appreciated.

I agree with Dannydet. There are plenty of keyboards to be had at the Play store. A factory reset of your phone would no doubt fix whatever problems the recent update created. If the only thing effected is the keyboard, using a different one will be a lot less painful.
I'd only consider resetting the phone if you find other problems or extreme battery usage.

Install a different keyboard from the play store. SwiftKey keyboard is the one I use on all my android devices
Many thanks. I have installed Swiftkey and now have a useable on screen keyboard when required. Have still had a couple of notifications of the Samsung keyboard not working despite the fact that it is no longer the default. However, it seems to be limited to when I am looking at the settings menu. Fingers crossed that your advice has enabled me to side-step this annoyance. Thank you.

Since you're still seeing those notifications, even if it's not selected as your default keyboard that could indicate the app's process is still running in the background. Try going into your Settings >> Apps menu, find the Samsung keyboard app listing, and see if you can at least disable it. Then restart your phone.

Thanks for following up. Android seems to be different on the Tab and some of the things that you can do on the phone do not appear on a tablet and disabling the Samsung keyboard on my tablet is one of those things. However, the annoying pop up has now disappeared so all is great at the moment but thanks again for offering the suggestion.
