Samsung keyboard settings not working in email

Hi all,
Recently did a factory reset of my phone. Everything working fine after setting everything back up apart from one thing - my Samsung keyboard settings.

Whilst I have auto-capitalise, auto spacing and auto punctuate selected, only the spacing works. The capitalise and puctuate fails to work in email only!

It works fine in SMS, S Note (when I type text), facebook and most other apps - but not email. The email program I am using is the standard one for my Samsung Note 4 which has android version 6.0.1 - no updates are required.

I have checked the keyboard settings whilst in email by selecting the cog icon and it has punctuate and capitalise boxes checked but istill it does not work.

Any suggestions? I don't really want to download another app to replace the keyboard so looking for fixes if possible.

Cheers all.

Hi,

First of all welcome to the forum!

The only thing that I could suggest is that something is screwy in the app cache. You could try clearing the complete cache or just the cache (and potentially data) of the keyboard app. This would make sure that there is nothing weird sticking around. You could also try the same trick for your email app, but just remember that if you clear the email apps data, you will need to re-enter your email account details and sync mail again.

Good luck!

Regards,
Eric.

Hi, I don't understand your reluctance to move to a different keyboard , most of them are far superior to the stock Samsung one , I would recommend the SwiftKey one, it is vastly better than Samsung's. Phil

Tried looking for cache without any luck. Had a go with swift key. OMG. Never going to look back. And typing issues have gone away. Thanks everyone for your help and advice.
