Samsung Kies upgrade on PC - issue with download interruption

I'm attemption to upgrate to version 2.2 of Kies but am getting constant interruptions during the download of the file SAMSUNG_USB_Driver_forMobile_phones.exe.cab. The download stops and I get the message
"kies update cannot proceed because of network error, Please check your network status and try again".
The dialogue box has a "Retry" button. This re-starts the download for a while but issue occurs again and again.
Does anybody have experience of this and / or a soultion?

same problem here (Switzerland), but on another file: BATPlugin.dll.cab (23%).

The problem went away by itself...after several times, it simply worked. Perhaps the server was too busy

Now Kies can't connect anymore to the phone...but this is another problem

This is more than likely due to you being behind a proxy server, whether you know it or not. For example, I had this issue recently with a Galaxy S3 in Singapore. The update service simply would not complete - until I used a vpn to connect to the internet and then the update completed 100% - albeit slowly. For a free vpn service use hotspotshield.

I've Googled for this issue for two days and your VPN solution was the only one that solved my problem
