Samsung Kies

Lurker
I was considering a Samsung Libre c3300 'phone, which is not an Android 'phone, but before doing so learnt of possible Kies problems. So, before purchasing a c3300, I installed Kies on my Vista laptop. The installation was no problem and Kies opened OK, but when subsequently booting up, the laptop failed to start and underwent its own start-up repair. When it started, after about 10 mins for the repair, there was no sign of the Kies software nor an associated codec. There was no loss to any other files as far as I know, but the Kies software has been deleted by the repair. Hope this may be of interest to future Kies users.

Here's my take on Kies.

Many people just lack the patience to work with new software, when they are not familiar with it.

In my case I've used Kies quite a number of times, it's a very easy process.

I have it loaded on a ThinkPad running XP and another ThinkPad running Windows 7. Kies works very well on each of them.

I've upgraded about 15 Galaxy S phones for friends and family, each has gone smooth and trouble free. Not once has there been a problem.

The true key to success is to be patient, be SURE to get the NEWEST version off of Samsungs OEM site and you are good to go.
