Samsung Network Extender, Samsung phone, texting issue

I did a search on this topic but didn't find anything similar so I thought I'd post here.

Background: I switched from a Motorola phone (excellent radios) to a Samsung phone (shitty radios) and immediately had problems with phone call quality and dropped calls on my phone.

I put in a problem ticket with Verizon and they informed me that the signal in my area was 'weak' due to overlapping tower area coverage. I find this excuse to be 'weak' since all the other phones (Motorola's iPhone's) have 4 bars and the tower is about 2 miles from my house!

They suggest adding a Network Extender which they will gladly sell me for $250. Several angry phone calls up their chain of command and they agree to send me one for free.

The network extender works as advertised, albeit with very limited distance that barely covers my relatively small house. But there is one annoying issue that only occurs since adding the network extender: Oftentimes (but not always) the first text I send with 'fail' to send. I usually (but not always) will send when I hit resend.

Just wondering if anyone else has noticed this problem with their network extender? If so, did you find a solution? Going to Google away and try to find an answer and will post what I find but since I couldn't find a similar thread here I figured I'd start one!

similar situation here...minus a few years. When I got the Galaxy Nexus when it came out I had swapped to it from a Moto....The G Nex got horrid reception. Fast track...I have a Samsung Network Extender for free in my home now.. ...

Couple of questions.

1. Are all of your lights blue on the network extender?
2. Are you using the stock messaging app?
3. Is it only happening with SMS or both SMS and MMS?
4. I assume it did not do this before the extender correct?

I did some Googling today and definitely (and easily) found several posts in a few tech forums where people complained of the same issue - but no posts about fixes. Probably going to call Verizon tech support tomorrow. One of the responses I read was from a Verizon rep that said they have a dedicated support group for the network extenders, so I guess I'll give them a go.

To answer the questions posed by Trophynuts:

1. Are all of your lights blue on the network extender? Yes
2. Are you using the stock messaging app? Yes
3. Is it only happening with SMS or both SMS and MMS? Have not noticed - rarely send MMS.
4. I assume it did not do this before the extender correct? Correct

hmmm wish i could help more then. My sms seem to send find although they take a little longer than normal. I think the quality of the extender in general is garbage and it's truly a bad design. It doesn't really "extend" the network. It routes your call over your internet.

I'm currently testing Tmo out and they too have actual network boosters that do not plug in to your home internet. ....i just have to talk them in to giving me one for free :)
