Every time I send a text message, my Samsung note4 phone asks me to select a default messaging app. Messages is the only texting app I have installed. This is annoying.
Actually there may be two apps on your phone that call themselves "messages" hence the confusion by the system. When you get prompted, you should see options to use it "just once" or "always". The "Always" option sets that app as your default and you shouldn't see the prompt any longer.
(I moved your thread to the Note 4 channel so other Note 4 owners can chime in. )
