Help samsung s3 red circle over my phone icon

I need help to remove a red circle with a 1 in over my phone icon. Don't know when it came but it will not go no matter what I do.
I do know my way around a phone so I find this so frustrating.

Do you mean the 1 in the sun within the weather widget? If so, it has been discussed that it symbolizes daylight savings time.

Isn't this a counter for your missed calls? If you pull down the notification bar and find a missed call icon and tap it, the 1 should disappear. I seem to remember having this.

Think it's missed call and maybe voicemail, check call logs and dial voicemail
