samsung s3 through straigthtalk(walmart)

Any thoughts on the Samsung S3 purchase through StraightTalk? It is really confusing with all the s3's and the different model numbers. Any advice on the different kinds of s3's out there. I need either ATT or Verizon towers in the area I live (NC, USA). any help appreciated.
thanks

The S3 model numbers I'm aware of are the international I9300 which should work on most networks worldwide and its LTE brother the I9305.

You've also got the I9300T which is for the Australian, New Zealand and Thailand markets and also has an LTE version, the I9305T.

Next is the I9305N which is the LTE versions for Nordic countries and Sweden.

Finally there is the Chinese version, the I9308. I think that's all of them but if I've missed any I'm sure somebody will add it to the thread.

For absolute compatibility with your network you should look at getting the I9300 version or the I9305 if your network supports LTE.

Not really accurate, in the US each carrier has it own variant. Also in the US the carrier is either CDMA or GSM. I think all the International versions are GSM and may not work on a CDMA carrier. Att is GSM and Verizon is CDMA.

The I9300 international variant is GSM and/or CDMA compatible (it has three network modes; Auto, GSM and CDMA) hence the moniker, "international". Sure, each US carrier has its own variant and I did say in my original post that I may have missed some out, but who wants a carrier specific variant when a completely unlocked SIM free model is available?

For the info. I will also do my research onmy end. Again, thanks for sharing.

Any thought on us $ costs for s3 to lower their prices? They are running about $439.00.

A Sim Free model will not work in the US with a GSM network. T-Mobile and ATT require a Sim Card for GSM as well as a few other US GSM carriers.

what I would like to get:
-Samsung galaxy S3
- prepaid
- access to either AT&T(GSM) or Verizon towers - due to location

I see that there are mini's, GSM vs CDMA, international vs US, etc.

Any help appreciated.

Went to Walmart for Straight Talk and find that the S3 works with SPRINT towers (not good for me due to location) and it looks like my other choices are directly from the carriers i.e. Verizon or at&t OR unlock phones.

Concern about purchasing unlock phones on amazon. Not sure if I am getting what I am paying for.

any help with this is appreciated. thanks

Sir GTwalling - sound like the unlock phones (sim free phones) are international with GSM and do not work in the US. Isthat right?
