Did you clear the cache?

Settings≥
Apps≥ show system apps
Dialer storage
Storage≥ clear cache

I don't even have an app called "dialer storage", though I do have a "phone and message storage", so I'm going to guess it's the same thing (different manufacturers, different android versions, different names). If it is then do you have a lot of people send you stuff like videos via MMS? That's about the only way I can think of it getting that large (mine is 46MB and has every personal SMS I've received since 2010, though as almost nobody I know uses MMS there are only a handful of photos and no videos in there).

Back in the early days the "contacts storage" app used to sometimes go crazy and fill itself with many duplicates of each contact - which since it would just show one entry per name could happen without being obvious. But I assume you have a separate Contacts Storage, I've not seen that bug in years, and it never got that out of control.

Definitely doesn't seem right, there's no way the dialler app should be consuming that much storage. Maybe it's buggy and there's a memory leak or something?

Not sure if Samsung still has the option to Wipe System Cache partition in recovery, if it does, worth a shot.

Read somewhere yesterday that WhatsApp is a storage hog in regards to the "storage dialer" search I did. If you use WA it might be worth a shot to clear it's cache, limit storage (if you can). Not sure on that latter part as I don't have WhatsApp installed.
