Samsung Tablet Note 10.1 will not mount

Hey Guys, when I plug my Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 tablet in my Windows 7 Laptop the tablet will not mount on the desktop. Do I need a different cable? The only cable I have is for power...

That is the same tablet I have and occasionally it will not mount. The cable you have for power should be the same as the one to connect to your laptop. Whenever I have that issue I usually reboot the laptop, and sometimes even the tablet and it should behave after that. You didn't do any new updates recently, I assume?

Edit: I occasionally get that with both Win 7 and Vista( Don't ask)

Thanks Zigman66 I will try that. I think I might need some Drivers (Samsung)? My Nexus 5 Phone mounts great on my Win 7 Laptop.... weird huh?

Did this tablet previously mount with no issues? If so I wouldn't think it is a driver issue. But I seriously would try the rebooting first at least to rule out hiccups

If your current USB cable is indeed a 'power only' cable than it isn't even possible for you to mount your tablet to any computer. But most USB cables are both 'data' and 'power' so confirm that cable is just for power only. A power only cable only has the wiring to transfer power, the data wiring is either absent or cut off at both the both the connector plugs. If it is power only just pick up a good USB cable that data/power capable (again, most of them are).

Also, if you plug your tablet into a USB hub, try plugging directly into a USB port in your laptop instead and see if that makes any difference.

When I plug it in it starts charging. It will not mount, it's pluged straight into the PC. I have all drivers instaled and I even used this... https://www.allmobitools.com/unified-android-toolkit-latest-version/

Still will not mount. The original USb cable that came with the Samsung broke after about 1.5 Years.

Instead of a third-party driver try installing Samsung's 'Smart Switch' utility onto your Win7 laptop. Smart Switch includes the Samsung driver.

But again, if you do indeed have a power-only USB cable, the cable's internals simply don't allow for any kind of data connectivity, so correct driver or not your tablet cannot mount properly.
