Is there a way to save my pictures to my SIM card so I don't lose them.

Hi and Welcome
No, the Sim can only store simple contact data and even that is normally stored in phone memory. Either save your pics to sd card by changing the settings in your camera app or set up say a dropbox account with auto upload of pictures or regularly copy them to pc/external storage
