Help saving android applications to sd card

Hi all,

Can someone help, I have just bought a Samsung Galaxy Portal. The user manual says to copy applications saved in MoviNAND to sd memory card. Have attached phone to pc but have no idea what to do next as cannot find MoviNAND memory anywhere on phone or pc. Please help

You need to pull down the top status bar and 'mount' your phone memory and/or SD card to the computer.

And also you'd probably be better off downloading newer versions of the applications from Samsung Mobile website. There's a bit chance that distributives on you phone are out of date or wont' work with your phone at all.

P.S. What the heck is MoviNAND, lol. Samsung is bonkers, why make up names for things that already have names)

Sorry, I was probably sleepy yesterday and did not read carefully.

MoviNAND probably is a Samsung branded SD card, but you say manual is telling you to copy apps from MoviNAND to an SD card. DOes it say what apps and why? I'm confused on this one.

But anyway, to connect the phone to your PC you need to pull down the status bar and Mount the phone.

Let's see.

Based on the Android platform, your device’s functionality can be extended by installing additional applications. Android Market provides you an easy
and quick way to shop for games and mobile applications.

So this part simply says that you can download programmes/applications from the Market and they can do lots of different things, whatever.

Your device will save user files from downloaded applications to the moviNAND™ memory. To save the files to the SD memory card, connect your device to a PC and copy them from moviNAND to SD memory card.

Here it's not about applications, but the user data generated by the applicaitons. Like a shopping list from a shopping app, or an image from a photo editor, etc. Those are saved in the internal phone memory. So what it says here is "if you want to copy these files for whatever reason to an SD card, you need to connect your device to a PC".

So you need to know what you are looking for and why you are looking for it, befire you can actually copy anything. And this depends on particular apps you have installed, and whether they actually have any user data files.
