Saving contacts?

A friend of mine broke the screen on her Droid HD. It will turn on, ring ,etc but the screen is black. I already told her I can get pictures, video, etc off of it but can I extract the contacts to a vcf file so I can save them in Google? I can easily do this when I can use the screen but I have no idea if I can do it otherwise. Then again, without the option to choose the connection to the computer, getting anything may be impossible. It is NOT rooted, it's all stock. I figured I would ask you smart people!

I am not sure its possible to access your phone's memory when its off, at least not now, but in the near future.
But if your phone has a connection to a HDMI, then you could connect it to your TV just to be able to see the screen, but that also depends on whether your touchpad works. If you can get an exact copy of the phone from a friend, you could install a recovery and pull everything into your computer through ADB. You will need someone who has the same phone and is willing to help you use their phone to press the right buttons.

Does your friend sync her contacts with Google? If so, she could just get them from her gmail account. Or if she's going to get an Android replacement, just enable Google sync on the new phone and they will automatically show up there.

I will have to ask to be sure but I was under the impression that they aren't. If they are then you are correct and there are no issues. This is what I do also.
