This one looks interesting. Not sure if video calls will take off, they never did in the past even though my ancient N800 still does it well but almost nobody to do it with.

But it looks to be very hacker/developer friendly. Full assortment of BT profiles. Instant root. They welcome hackers and open source development.

The further away from provider influence and control the better.

If they can make it work with Skype, I think it will take off. I watched a Youtube video and carriers were going to come out with the technology anyway but they were waiting for 4G. Saygus decided to get a head start (very smart for a small company imo) and get the ball rolling with 3G and even EDGE.

Any chances of this also coming to Sprint? I know it's heading to Verizon most likely.

Skype is proprietary so it will be up to them. Once out it should work with most android phones. Standards based SIP should work now. Provider video solutions don't interest me either, video has been doable for years but few use it and providers hate it so I'd be loath to use one from a provider.

The whole point of this kind of phone to me at least is that it is meant to be an unlocked device. So don't wait for the provider to offer it, just look for it to be functional on your provider of choice. This one is too open and hackable to be tied down by a provider. The WiFI, USB and BT options are very interesting and I'm sure that a provider would cripple functionality like they do on all the others.
