Scammers: why do they bother?

Just been trying to sell my partners hero on ebay.

Got to the last minute and then it went to over

Scammers try because about 0.1% of people are stupid engough to fall for thier tricks. That's all they need to make plenty of cash as well.

Someone tried it on me when I sold a phone on ebay. He even sent fake paypal emails. I reported him, relisted as UK only and PayPal only with immediate payment required. One of the losing, but genuine bidders, came back and bought it.

yeah, I've done the second chance offer thing, but no bites yet. It's such a waste of time though!

I'm selling my Mac through gumtree and even that's been terrible. They think you're born yesterday - even saying that I have their money and they will report me!!!!!

Ah well - I'll let Karma do it's thing with them.
