Version 1.7 of Scanner Radio (a free ad-supported app) is now available in Android Market for phones running Android 1.6 and later.
Scanner Radio allows you to listen to over 2,300 police and fire scanners, railroad communications, and weather radio broadcasts from around the world.
When you run the app, you can select "Scanners near me" from the opening screen to see a list of scanners in your area, or, you can select "Top 50 scanners" to see a list of scanners that have the most listeners (like Chicago Police, LAPD, etc).
The app can alert you when lots of people are listening to a scanner to let you know when something interesting might be going on. For example, you could have the app alert you when any scanner in the directory has more than 500 listeners, or, you could have it alert you when scanners you choose (such as those in your area) have more than, say, 50 listeners.
