scared to update

Searching google and forum hasn't helped.

I've not had my Hero for very long but do like to keep my gadgets updated, got the TMOB official donut. I'm really keen on the new market with screenshots.

BUT

I've just got my phone set up the way I want it, I'm scared that the update will mess things up and lose data. don't think i'd update if i'll lose my bookmarks,contacts,settings etc

I think my app settings are mostly at risk but any info of anything else would be appreciated

Can anyone who has updated let me know...

1. Will it devastate my set up?
2. If not how do I back up data?
3. How will I restore a back up?

1. nope...everything will be the same but youll see minor changes to some features

It's not donut. It's an updated 1.5 - mostly updates to SenseUI to make it more responsive. You could also try MyBackup.

Calendar etc is backed up on the cloud anyway so that will re-sync to your phone anyway.

What's nandroid it's not on the market.

I used mybackup

I was a bit bummed when I found out it was not donut.

Mybackup worked quite good not perfect but a we bit of work sorted everything out. My hero didn't lag but it's even sped up a wee bit, mainly switching between homescreens. I do miss the clock flicking.

My hero runs sweet and I now know more about changing roms so my question is...


Would this have went the same if I was rooting, would mybackup still work, are there any better hero roms maybe with donut? Do heroes have much to gain
