Scheduled Deletion Of Text Messages

Forgive me if there's already something out there, I looked and only found SMS quick delete, which is a nifty little app, but no scheduler or anything similar to what I'm looking for.

I am unorganized, I am forgetful, I am mommy to 2 kids under 5...my brain is just fried sometimes, lol! I spent 2 hours today deleting the 2000+ messages from my phone (and the 2000 were just between me texting my BFF and my hubby) because it was making it laggy. :o

I would love an app that you can set a time (like when I'm asleep and not using the phone) to automatically delete text messages. I'd love the option to be able to select certain people to ignore deletion (ex: delete messages from everyone but my BFF). Or the ability to schedule certain people to be deleted at different times, (ex: delete messages from everyone except my husband on Monday and Thursday morning at 3 am, and delete messages from my husband every other Monday at 3 am).

I'd love the ability to delete messages from numbers starting with "___" ...like my facebook text notifications, I love getting them, I hate how much room they use in my inbox. Not all of them are from the same number, most of them begin with '326' but end in different sets of numbers, so I would be able to set the scheduler to delete messages from any senders beginning with '326' every night.

Also the ability to protect or lock certain individual texts like a sweet text from my hubby or an important text from a friend, much like the way you can lock pictures in a digital camera, when you are about to hit "delete all" but want to keep 1 or 2 pictures on the card.

If anyone knows of an app like that, PLEASE message me, if anyone would like to develop an app like that, I would SO love it!

Well I'm pretty sure this doesn't help you too much as I don't believe we have the same messaging app but I know that the one for my Droid has the capability to lock individual messages and set the limit of how many texts it will store for each conversation. As for having it delete messages at a set time, I haven't heard of an app that can do that, however, it seems something completely feasible (I'm not a developer so don't take my word).

The only other thing I can suggest is to use Facebook's app or mobile website instead of getting texts from them. I used to get their texts when I had my Voyager but since then, I turned off the Facebook texts. The only text updates I have left on is CNN news and that's because I don't check up on that enough as I'd like to.

Are you using something like handcent? It might be better to just email the developer of whatever app you're using (assuming you're not using the native sms app) to add that feature, it does sound useful.

The SMS API isn't public yet, so that's probably why you don't see more useful apps like this around the market.
