I originally configured Chromecast with a different phone (Samsung S3) and it works with PC's. When I use the Google Home app on my Samsung J7 to enable screen mirroring (for use with a non-Chromecast app), a popup says "Screen Casting is not optimized for this device: your experience may vary." I use it to view videos in thinkorswim (TD Ameritrade) trading app from my J7 to HDTV. That works fine for the most part, except rarely audio stops while video continues, until I disconnect/reconnect Screen Casting.
Do I need an additional app to optimize Screen Casting, or is that just because I am mirroring the screen instead of using a Chromecast aware app. Maybe that is because it is relaying the phone screen instead of having Chromecast grab content directly, like it would do with YouTube, Hulu, Netflix, etc.
