Screen drops protector?

Hello,
I am really worried about dropping the galaxy s3 on its screen, and break it, so I was wondering, is there a screen protector that protects against direct hit on the screen ? any case that comes with such a screen protector or just screen protector that does this job?
thanks!

I think the Otterbox has a case that goes around the entire phone which would deter from the screen breaking if it is dropped on it...Screen protectors mainly protect from scratches when you put your device in your pocket with your car keys and similar situations...

When your device is dropped on the screen even if it has a screen protector the screen will still have the same chance to break, it will just be broken under the protector. Your best bet is getting a case the either wraps around to the front of the device making it so if it hit the ground it will hit the case not the screen, or a case that covers the entire device...

Hope this helps :)

Wet application screen protectors have been shown to increase the impact resistance of the screen by up to 35% by making it more resilient. But if you drop any phone directly on it's screen your best bet is to cross your fingers very quickly. Your best protection is with a case that has a substantial lip surrounding the screen to try and prevent any direct impact to the glass.

thanks for quick replies! so actually screen proector like Zagg can protect from drops? or the screen protector on the Otterbox Defender is stronger?

Screen protectors will protect from scratches, it won't protect from screen shatter. You need something around the edges of the device itself for that to absorb the impact, like an otterbox or even a simple jelly case.

While it offers no direct protection I did get the 20 dollar rubberized tightly fitting case that Verizon had at their store. It's very rubbery and to a point sort of sticky to touch. I find it gives me a lot of confidence when wheeling it about in my hand. You can still drop it but if you are the least bit considerate it won't happen often and anything but a direct hit on a very hard sharp object on the glass just bounces off. With the standard screen protector for the scratches ect the whole thing isn't perfect but a good compromise between safe and useful.

I have a 2-1/2 year old Droid X that has a plastic case/skin and it has survived a number of falls right on the face. The edge of the plastic creates a bevel around the screen so that when the phone is dropped the screen does not touch the ground. I have also used a transparent plastic screen saver to keep the screen from being scratched.
This phone is still in use by another family member. I have a new Galaxy S 3 and I noticed that it is very slick to hold. I also have a plastic case and screen saver for it.
Good luck!

From my understanding a screen protector (a good one like Zagg) will help your screen from getting broken but any fall no matter what you have for protection hits the right way it will break. There are a lot of good suggestions in this thread from the members. When looking for a case look for one that sits a little higher above the screen edge to give protection and also one that has a little substance to it. I would steer clear of the hard plastic "designer cases" which in my opinion offers little to no protection. The best cases are going to be the otter box or similar.

I personally don't use a screen protector (the Bionic uses Gorilla Glass) and I use a TPU case that is a mix of rubber and plastic.

Here is a TPU case for the S3 just to give you an idea. Amazon.com: galaxy s3 tpu case

good luck.
