In micromax canvas. In the security screen, the "None" option is greyed out, with the text "Disabled by administrator, encryption policy, or credential storage."

Have you selected the encrypt phone option?

Have to say, I would never, ever have an unsecured phone, myself

Some apps require that there is a working screen lock and prevent it from being disabled. Typically vpn apps do and others that are security related.
