i cant seem to find the setting to toggle between 18:5:9 to 16:9 ratio. i saw a video of a s8 that was able to do this in the screen mirror settings.
i only see the 3 options to pause sharing, change device, and disconnect. in the video the guy had an icon for the "gear wheel" settings.
 
Are you using the built in Smart View? When I press the smart view icon on my screen to bring up the options I also have the settings cog. No idea why you don't. Maybe it has something to do with what device you're connecting to. I can't test that as I can't even get it you recognise my TV, I can only connect to my Chromecast.
 
Yes, I'm using the built in smart view. I'm screen mirroring from a tmobile samsung s8 active android 7.0 to samsung un75ju7100 4k 3d led tv.
Is it just a chromecast thing or not?
 
Hopefully someone else will be able to test on their TV. The only way I can connect directly to my TV with Smart View is to go through Samsung connect and then I don't get any of the Smart View options. It does however look like the screen is set to 16:9 when I connect that way.
 
Went and bought chromecast ultra and I still see the same thing. I'm thinking it has to be the android os version?
