Screen not turning on (random)

I know that this problem is common with several Galaxy versions because I have watched innumerable YouTube videos on how to fix it and read numerous blogs, etc. on the topic.
What I would like to know, if anyone has done this, is how long will my S5 keep 'working' if I do nothing to fix this problem, before it becomes a complete and total (very small) boat anchor?

Good question...

YouTube videos and blogs are of no help.

Mine has had this issue for a couple months now. Seems to help my waking it up with the power button instead of the home button.

Time will tell on when it becomes that tiny boat anchor.

Yeah, I have been dealing with it only about three weeks. But with a couple of months under your belt, I feel like I may have time.
I am attached to my s5, but like old pets, I will eventually have to say goodbye to it.

Well, after posting my initial response, mine started clutching, more often.
Almost every other screen on cycle.
Got it turned off now.

I'm attached to mine also.
Old pets seem so familiar and settled in. I hate the housebreaking period.
