Help Screen not waking up

Had s3 few weeks now and half the time when the phone rings the screen doesn't wake up and I can't answer the call. It's really annoying. It's not rooted and uses stock apps only with only a handful of apps like ebay and facebook installed. I have adjusted the settings to suit but I don't know whether it's a software fault or if it's a setting that needs to be changed.

Also the screen is on auto brightness which sometimes dims the screen too much, but if I turn it off it's too bright even on the lowest setting and too dim when I'm outside.

Other than that I love the phone

To try to resolve the screen waking issue, I'd check first for any available firmware updates, failing that, a factory reset. (its a pain but apparently a reset can solve a number of minor issues)

As for the screen brightness, I would suggest trying out a widget app called Elixir 2, and just create a home screen widget to toggle your brightness from auto/25%/50/75/100 (i believe you can change the increments to whatever you want)

Elixir uses a scale of 0-255 for brightness, so 20% would have a value of 53 and a value of 10 for 4% (just decide 255 by the %age of brightness you want to get the value.

If you want to be a tad more clever, you can get some NFC tags and set them up so it will change your brightness along with or without other settings with a simple swype over the tag.
