Screen protector help!

Hello all, I have recently recieved a galaxy 10.1 tablet as a gift. I want to put a screen protector on it so i went out and got one. I have one called the invisibleSHIELD and i've never installed something that requires using a spray. I'm kinda scared of getting it in the holes and not sure if it will go down the sides. Can anyone with experience with this stuff help me and give me some advice?

I have used both kinds. I don't like the spray kind either. The water is harmless BUT they tend to have more of an 'orange peel' porous look to them. I'm not shure about that particular brand. The ones like that I have used are Skinomi brand. My favorite screen protector is a Steinheil. It doesn't use the moisture and it looks like it isn't there (less one small spot). I also use Steinheils on my phones.

I applied a Skinomi just this week on my wife's phone only because Steinheil doesn't make protectors for the Rhyme. It looks ok.

I am just careful to keep it to a light misting. Once it is 'squeege'd' off a light mist translates to a fair amount of water moving toward the sides. I'm just quick to dry it up asap. I've never had any harm come to a Xoom, a Galaxy tab and now a Rhyme (knock on wood).

Good luck!

Thank you for the advice. I'm alot more confident now to put the protector on. I plan on covering the speakers and charge dock holes just for precaution but you've made this alot more relaxing. Thank you

With Gorilla Glass and a case, I haven't bothered with a screen protector yet. Do most people use them?
I bought a screen protector for my first touch screen phone but removed it after a few days due to the reduced sensitivity and heavier drag on the screen. I have since never used another on at least 6 other touch devices since I don't like them. I have never had a scratch or other damage as glass is fairly tough by its nature. But I should mention that I'm not a sloppy or accident prone person and when I sell something it's usually in "mint" condition. I know other people who toss their phones onto sand covered tables, face-down without a care in the world, so they might benefit from a screen protector.

My wife is somewhere in the middle...she isn't careless, but she tosses her HTC Desire into a purse with loose change and other stuff without a second thought. No scratches on hers in over a year. Same for my daughter who is even more careless and no scratches. All we have on all our phones for protection are TPU gel cases.

YMMV.
:D

I used to never use one - especially with the implementation of Gorilla Glass. My DINC1 never got a scratch and was not treated particularly carefully (not bad, just not carefully). I upgraded to a DINC2 (also Gorilla Glass) and it scratched on day 3 or 4! My son's DINC2 scratched after a few weeks too and he is very particular about his phone.

From that point on, I've been covering my screens. If you buy a good quality and are careful with installation, you cannot even tell it is there.

You're welcome! Good luck with it.

Thanks for your comments. I suppose I ought to try a protector. If I don't like it, I could always take it off again. I just don't rate my chances of doing a good job with such a large screen.

It was almost perfect when i fix it on, but the next day (today) i found a little white spec under the protector and it felt rough when i put my finger over it so i guess it's off to get another protector and try again i guess. :(

Clean it good and then get those micro fiber specs off with a can of compressed air before applying the protector. I also wash my hands real good and follow up by cleaning my fingertips with scotch tape (for fibers left from the towel). All of that might be unneccesary but I have had good luck.

The other thing you could try is to carefully peel up the protector to the point of the piece of dust in question and tap on it with some doubled up tape until it sticks to the tape. Then maybe the protector will lay back down.

Thanks i'll be trying some of these tips next time i get one. I already scrapped the old one cause when i tryed to fix it i ended up making it beyond repair, but I plan on making this next one perfect thanks for the help!

I ended up buying one of those window tint application kits that you buy for cars. I sprayed the screen protector to the point that it was dripping, applied it on the tab, and then used the squeegee that came with the kit and it was perfect. This was after trying to use the stuff that came with the screen protector and having to return those protectors. I am using the ZAGG invisibleSHIELD protectors. After a day or two, all the micro-bubbles worked their way out and it was smooth and flawless. I ended up doing my Evo 3D screen the same way.
