Screen Protector Help

Hi.
I just got a tempered glass screen protector yesterday for my GS6 and I did a pretty bad installation of it. Resulting in loads of dust underneath it. I've ordered a new one arriving Tuesday. My question is, can the dust damage the screen in any way? Leave markings, etc?

The way it stands now? doubt it.
By the way, welcome to AF!!

I'd offer some tips and tricks for ya, but I don't use screen protectors so I wish you luck with your next install :)

The dust shouldn't damage the screen. When you get the new one, to remove the old glass take a piece of scotch tape and make a ring with a sticky side on outside, put you finger inside and use it like a double-sided tape to lift the edge up so you can remove the rest safely.

Before you ready to install a new one, clean the display and let it dry (usually, new screen protectors come with alcohol wipes). Use an open well lit area, wipe the surface (table) down before using it to make sure all the specs of dust are gone. Not sure if you are a guy or a girl, but I usually do my tempered glass installs "topless" lol!!! Your t-shirt/shirt has lint and when you hover over the phone during install - that's how most of the time it gets from your shirt to the glass. Also, the trick with scotch tape - make a few of such double-sided tape rolls and keep it next to you. If you spot a spec of dust on the display during install, you can quickly use the tape to "pick it" up. Another important tip, before you do install, plan ahead the alignment, especially around home button, front camera, led, etc.

I also read that applying it in the bathroom with hot water running helps because the steam pushes all the dust down to the ground resulting in a dust free environment?

Yeah, but there are more chances to mess it up in the bathroom, in a small room without a good surface. But you can certainly try that.

The dust should not damage the screen. I am sure the screen protector you bought came with some accessories including cleaning cloth. Just wipe it very carefully and thoroughly to clean the dust.

Yes, just don't use commercial tape like Gorilla or duct tape as these type usually leave sticky residues that either stick unto the shield or the device

I saw the AT&T guy using scotch tape to clean the screen of someones phone to install a tempered glass screen protector.
Now I cleaned my G2's screen with one wet cotton ball and used 2 dry ones to clean it before I installed tempered glass on it.

Hi, the dust damage the tempered glass screen protector. if it is will too much dust, the adhesion is not good. Meanwhile, it will have air bubble on the screen.
So, you need to clean screen first before you install the tempered glass screen protector.

The dust definitely won't damage the screen, don't worry. I can vouch for the scotch tape method - I used it after seeing it on YouTube (it really is perfect, not too strong and doesn't mark the screen). Currently using a Second Skin (getsecondskin.com) on my S6 and the kit it came with made things a whole lot easier (the 'premium' screen protectors I've had always come with a bunch of stickers etc. Some come with alcohol pads too so maybe try that). Installing it in the bathroom sounds like it'd help as well, I'll definitely be doing that next time.

Buy device with gorilla corning glass, you don't need a screen protector.

Don't know why but most selling product for expensive devices (with gorilla glass) is glass protection. For example, http://www.geek-protect.com/maxboost-screen-protector/
and you can find many others selling glass protectors for devices already using Gorilla glass while in the same time it is hard to find quality protection for smartphones without Gorilla glass.

Maybe their managers think nobody wouldn't buy 7$ protection for 150-200$ smartphone.

Have tried several brands of tempered glass but one that works for me is usually the films. I've tried Skinomi, iLLumiShield, Zagg,KlearCut and iLloomee. It really depends on how you do the installation and of course, it would be great to purchase from one with great Customer Service Support like Skinomi.
