Screen Protector

I am confused I thought the glass on the screen is bullet proff "Gorilla Glass" - the saleskid took his keys to the glass in the store. Why then al the posts about scren protectors - is one needed if so which one is best/easiest to insatll without bubles ?
 
There send to be a 50/50 split on this issue.

At the end of the day it boils down to what you want. Can your screen get damaged without a cover -yes. Anything can get damaged. Sand is what'll scratch your phone really quickly. I work in an office, and even though my phone often gets in the same pocket as my keys, the screen is still perfect. I don't use a protector. My dad however has a construction company, and he is surrounded my sand and dirt. He keeps his protector on all the time.

I don't like the way they feel, and I am less accurate when I use one.

So basically your lifestyle will determine if you need one.
 
If your the type of person that puts your phone in a bag on your pocket, you might consider it. If just to not have the screen scratched. (Gorilla Glass will scratch) I use a ZaggShield screen protector. I have an Outterbox Commuter case on the phone, and use a belt clip holder. It would be a lot cheaper to replace the screen protector, then to live with the scratch or replacing the screen. Look at it as just a little insurance, for that just in case factor.
 
Gorilla Glass is not bullet proof, nor scratch proof. They are just scratch RESIST. It just takes very hard to scratch them, but they will scratch. Also, some people find the screen too sensitive and the protectors tend to lower sensitivity a bit.
 
Which is best - see some say zaggshields are good some say no good and at $15 bucks seems like someone is making a killing fo rthat little piece of plastic.
 
I personally dont understand why those branded screen prots are so expensive? i mean in my country you get screen protectors from china for like $3 each.
 
I would be afraid to spray any liquid on my phone cause the if the mositure indicator triggers good buy WARRANTY. Heck I hear if the phone is a bath with a steamie shower the indicator goes off and these folks are spray water on them ???
 
My phone comes with a factory screen protector which is intended to be temporary (sometimes have air bubbles). I have had to exchange my phone more than a few times because of unrelated warranty issues.

On my first phone, I removed the factory screen protector. I found that the touchscreen would get a lot of finger prints and smudges. In fact the build up of skin oil made the touch screen less smooth to use. I was always wiping down the touchscreen to try and keep it clean.

On my subsequent exchange phones, I left the temporary screen protector on (going so far as to peel it back and squeegee out any large air bubbles). I found that the screen protector was much more resistent to finger prints and smudges, smoother to the touch and I never have any need to wipe it down.

Even with the dry-application kind there are different types. The old-fashioned thin ones (e.g. Write-Rite type) can be very inexpensive, but only last a month or so before they look ugly. A good modern dry-application screen protector will last many months if not longer.

I have used my phone for 18 months now without a 'screen protector'. I just stick it in my pants pocket with loose coins. Not one scratch on it!
Saved myself a bundle in 'screen protectors', and a lot of time not fidgeting to stick them on, and never had diminished screen responsiveness or accuracy...
