how do you take a screen shot of the phone?

there's an app in the market called 'Screenshot', but you need to have root access to utilize it. I don't know that there's any other way to take a screenshot.

so often I find myself needing this feature...wonder why it is not allowed to users, but allowed at root? Is there really a risk?
